Conversations that matter

‘An evening where it’s important to really listen, to hear each other and to talk about things that are important to us.
Not your daily chit chat, but stuff we all want to talk about. Qualities of the heart; love, forgiveness, compassion.’

Barbara Piper

Let’s talk

My talks aim to be conversations that matter. Conversations where we open up about being compassionate in every way, to yourself and to others. About adding qualities of the heart to every conversation you have. About being non-judgmental, forgiving, open hearted and compassionate.

“Barbara’s talks and workshops inspire, connect & ignite your life forward. Her focus is on awareness, reflection, change, and personal growth and uses poetry as an entry point to discussion. Not just another ordinary lecture or motivational talk.  She will give you tools to find your own unique voice and to bring their talents it to the world. This is for people who want to navigate life in the midst of transition or who are in the midst of a career change  and are looking for their own internal wisdom. As she points out, we all have our own answers, we know best. It’s about asking the right questions, being still to hear your own voice and then moving that into action.”

Making your mark on the world

Poetry as an entry point to finding out how you are wired

Coaching conversations with art as an entry point to sparking conversations that matter. We will glance back at dynamics in your past to find how your ‘wiring’ effects your choices today.

Hanging in There, family ties

How often do you go back home for the holiday season and as soon as you hit the front door, you find yourself acting out the same ‘role’ you had had at home. Family relationships are complicated and, far or near, when the holiday season starts, we all seem to think of them.

Moving into your Hearts’ direction

This New Year’s theme is directed to embody all the intentions that we set for the new year. To move in a direction that matters, your hearts’ direction. We will venture into somatic coaching and the art of taking a first step.

“Much of her poems are a conversation between herself and the different parts of her Jewish, German, English, and Dutch heritage. She also ventures into more recent work around being brave and moving away from those family ties to moving into a new way of being. By holding the conversation lightly, deeper connections and new insights are woven into the evening with ease.”

Trying something new

If you always do what you always did…

Because much of my poems are a conversation between my myself and the different parts of heritage, I understand better why I do the things I do. I will venture into some work around being brave and moving away from those family ties to try new way of being.

Finding Your Voice

How losing your voice can turn into a gift and open yourself up to a new world and form of expression. We will let stories and art inspire us to keep looking for our own voice.

True to Yourself

Stop feel, connect, nominate & express.

We explore our foundations and how it’s visible in the world today. Combining both the yin and yang side of manifesting our true selves, we let poetry connect us to our inner journey without forgetting exterior expression.

Spoken Word – Poetry Bites

When I lived in San Francisco between 2016 and 2019, I created Poetry Bites, an evening of poetry to trigger conversations that matter. An evening where it’s important to really listen, to hear each other and to talk about things that are important to us.

Not your daily chit chat, but stuff we all want to talk about. Qualities of the heart; love, forgiveness, compassion and so on.  As an executive life coach, poetry is an outlet for my hearts’ desire. I moderate the evening by leading you through (my) poetry and art and we work with these pieces to spark conversations that matter.

Poetry Bites – Sound Bites – Music Bites; these evenings are meant to be fun yet deeply meaningful and aimed at feeding our souls.

Thank you so much for an evening that just kept on giving and connecting. We all left feeling so much better than when we came. We all knew each other upon leaving. Your poems keep resonating – time travel. We all went on our individual trips thanks to your poetic presentation. We loved it, you and your family. Your metaphors, – the art, the confetti and tears, the eagle- all are meditative ways of deeper understanding. Thank you for everything!

Barbara thank you for sharing your poetry and life experience. It touched me deeply. So grateful for this group I appreciate the gentle curiosity your work brings to exploring both the unknowns and the knows. I often get so critical when I don’t know something…last night was so special. I look forward to more!

I have been to many poetry events but you have a profound way to bring positivity to the room. Talking about deep feelings and dark places. Like the seaweeds we go into and you bring it to the surface and light. It isn’t heavy but light.
